The first series-produced MIRAI II rolled off the production line in early November 2020. In 2021, Toyota starts serial production with 30,000 units per year. Not only the new design convinces , also 30% more range, five seats, foldable rear seat and driver assistance system.
With a range suitable for travel, short stops for refuelling, high winter capability and completely free of harmful emissions, the Toyota Mirai (fuel consumption hydrogen combined 0.76 kg/100 km; CO2 emissions combined 0 g/km)* has been demonstrating since 2015 how alternative drive concepts can be successfully sold in series production. The completely newly developed model convinces with significant advances in technology, efficiency and driving performance. An optimized fuel cell system and three hydrogen tanks with a larger total volume allow ranges of up to 650 km (final homologation data are still pending).
Compared to the first generation, the new Mirai is less expensive and starts at prices starting at 63,900 Euro (all prices include 19 percent VAT). This means that the Toyota Mirai is now also eligible for the environmental bonus and the innovation premium.
The basic equipment includes 19-inch alloy wheels, a JBL sound system with 14 loudspeakers, a multimedia system with navigation and 12.3-inch display, which also supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a smart key system, LED headlights, heated front seats and electrically adjustable front seats. The current generation of the active safety and driver assistance system Toyota Safety Sense ensures safety.
The “Executive” equipment line (starting at 66,900 euros) also includes polished silver-colored 19-inch light-alloy wheels, adaptive Bi-LED headlights, multi-LED indicators in the front, privacy glass for the rear windows, a 360-degree camera system, adjustable ambient lighting in eight different colors, steering wheel heating, leather-look seat covers, an electrically adjustable steering column and a charging station for wireless charging of the smartphone. A reversing assistant (RCTA-B) as well as a blind spot assistant (BSM) and a parking assistant (ICS) with four sensors complete the package.
In the top “Advanced” version (73,900 euros), the new Mirai features a parking assistant (IPA+), black 20-inch light-alloy wheels, a panoramic roof, head-up display, a digital interior mirror with camera, heated seats at the rear, front and rear seat ventilation, three-zone automatic climate control, as well as a memory function for the driver’s seat and the electrically adjustable steering column. In addition, the Mirai is equipped with semi-aniline leather seats in black, which are available on request, at no extra charge, in a light color tone with matching dashboard and decorative applications in copper color.
The model is based on the new modular Toyota platform for rear-wheel drive vehicles, which was designed from the outset for different types of drive. It gives the sedan a higher body stiffness and a lower center of gravity, which increases agility and responsiveness. The new Mirai also responds more directly and evenly to accelerator pedal movements, providing both greater comfort and driving pleasure.
