Berlin, 21 Nov 2024 | Since the incident at the end of August at a hydrogen filling centre in Leuna, Saxony-Anhalt, there have been supply shortages at numerous H2 MOBILITY refuelling stations, particularly in Bavaria, Rhine-Main and Berlin. The situation has since stabilised. There continue to be only isolated supply constraints, with Berlin being the most affected region.<\/p>\n

The sudden shortage in summer was caused by safety checks on the type of vehicle that had been damaged. For this purpose, all vehicles of the same type were taken out of operation by several gas manufacturers.<\/p>\n

Frank Fronzke, Managing Director and COO of H2 MOBILIT<\/strong>Y, explains the developments: “Initially, we had great difficulty maintaining the usual level of supply to our refuelling stations. On the one hand, this was due to the fact that several suppliers took delivery vehicles of the same type out of service at the same time. On the other hand, contractually agreed production volumes and purchase quotas presented us with the challenge of organising replacement deliveries quickly in a small market. The incident showed us that we needed to differentiate our supplier network. We have succeeded in doing so. In the past few weeks, we have organised over 150 replacement deliveries and also signed up four new suppliers for the regions of Southern and Western Germany, as well as Berlin. Berlin, with its high density of fuel cell vehicles, is currently being supplied with the highest priority. We will continue to take all measures available to us to ensure the best possible supply at our refuelling stations.<\/p>\n
