Berlin, 13 Sep 2022 | H2 MOBILITY Germany plans to purchase regeneratively produced hydrogen (H2) from Hy2B Wasserstoff GmbH starting in 2024. The two companies announced their intention to supply green hydrogen from Lower Bavaria in the run-up to the ground-breaking ceremony for the megawatt electrolysis project on the site of the future hydrogen centre in Pfeffenhausen. The green hydrogen will be used to supply H2 MOBILITY hydrogen stations, primarily in Bavaria.<\/strong><\/p>\n Demand for hydrogen at German filling stations is on the rise: In the last 12 months alone, the volume of hydrogen (H2) refuelled in Germany has doubled. The commercial vehicle sector in particular is growing significantly. However, for hydrogen to contribute to complete decarbonisation, it must be produced electrolytically from renewable energies \u2013 and green H2 is still a scarce commodity in Germany.<\/p>\n \u201cEspecially when local electrolysis plants are to be expanded, we enable their economically viable operation by being a reliable customer. Hydrogen mobility can make a decisive contribution to the realisation of regional electrolysis projects and the rapid expansion of electrolysis capacities in Germany, from which other customers will then benefit as well!\u201d said Nikolas Iwan, Managing Director of H2 MOBILITY Germany on the occasion of the signing.<\/p>\n The Hy2B hydrogen production plant in Pfeffenhausen is part of the HyPerformer model region HyBayern funded by Germany\u2019s Federal Ministry of Digital Affairs and Transport (BMDV). In the years ahead, a hydrogen technology and user centre will be built on the site south of Schmatzhausener Stra\u00dfe on the municipal grounds of Pfeffenhausen market. Starting in the second half of 2023, the hydrogen electrolysis plant will produce green hydrogen with renewable electricity fed from a newly constructed free-standing photovoltaic plant and later also from wind turbines in the immediate vicinity.<\/p>\n The importance of such grid-serving electrolysis plants is currently increasing in the drastically intensified energy crisis, as a stable electricity grid is a prerequisite for accelerating the expansion of renewable energies.<\/p>\n
